I did put in for another job teaching summer school, this time, math. Since I happen to be certified in 9th grade math, and they are looking for anyone, even someone with 9th grade certification and a pulse, I figure I qualify. That would be a nice bit of change to have to tide me over the summer.

Tonight is the Thespian Society Banquet, and I am one of the MCs. I get to put my years of training to good work, handing out the little stars and listening to students talk about how wonderful it was to be in theater. Good times. I need to fix my hair, though, because we went outside for class today, and between the wind and the humidity, it is frazzled beyond measure.

As I try to reconstruct my various applications, primarily so I can email/call the districts and demand to know why they haven't hired me yet, it turns out I have actually applied to at least 17 districts (and 18 jobs!). The sun has come out, and I'm getting mild sunburns on my forearms after being out in it during the walk from my car to the school. We watched Julius Caeasar in one of the classes today, with Marlon Brando as Antony. It was a really good movie, and Brando did a great job, as you might except. Its also a really good play, with a lot of great dialogue. I don't think I've seen a really great production of it ever, but it might be one of Shakespeare's better tragical histories.
Aslo, as I told the kids, its not really about Julius Caesar, its all about Brutus, who is probably one of the most interesting characters ever.

This summer. I can't wait for this summer. I have only a few more days of work, until the 22nd, and then I am done done done! With nothing to do except rehearse and look for a job.
We're doing Aristophanes's The Birds with Gorilla Theater this summer. I think its going to be a fun play. Art Suskin is directing, and he's a great guy. I will have so much time to devote to this, it won't even be funny.
I have applied to help do a curriculum mapping program with the district this summer, which would be about $600 if it all came together, which would be nice, but I don't know when I find that out.
Tonight, we do our class play, which is the class final. The last three classes with these kids is basically happy fun time, because they will already have done their final project. After tonight, I am going to be so mentally checked out, I might as well be on valium.
So, pretty soon, I won't be busy at all. I can spend time curriculum planning, if I know where I'm working, or packing, if I know where I'm moving, or rehearsing, since I already know the play, although I don't have a script. I get one on the 23rd.

I think I've gotten everything off of Geocities. Most of the pages were all there, but a couple, especially the older ones, had missing pictures, and there were a couple of dead links. About half the dead links went to infinity-bound.net, so that's more my fault than Geocities, and the other half, I don't know whose fault it is. For the most part, we're talking about webpages that are8 or 9 years old. I don't quite have students younger than my webpage, but its getting to that point.
