So, after biking to and from a mask-making workshop for The Birds. (I have decided to portray the noble Puffin. "Spot? What spot?") A little under 2 miles each way, it seemed easier coming back than going. Also, this evening decided to be relatively cool. Since I don't have a job to drive to this summer, I am going to try biking to those places I have to go. Most rehearsals will be pretty close, so biking shouldn't be too arduous, but still helpful. Also, biking is fun. I always forget how much fun biking is, and I'm always glad to relearn. _

JOB INTERVIEW THURSDAY!

In Mokane, MO, a little town out by Columbia. They got my application double quick, as I just dropped it in the mail on Friday, but I'm not complaining! Double plus good! w00t! _

I've been running around all day. I dropped off a resume with a local school, actually got a call from the principal asking me to contact human resources, which I did, although I'm waiting for a return call. Dealt with student loans. Got my printer working, which required ink, but it now prints quite nicely after an uncertain start, and now...I don't know. I need to fill out a form and fax it off. Then probably do dishes. Also, I was going to put a table together for my mother, but that hasn't happened yet. Also, my room is very warm. _

Oog, I think I found the SallieMae loans, which is both good and bad. Good that I found them, but bad because they aren't actually paid off.

Also, I have paid a heck of a lot of money for my education. Oy. _

Sooooooo.

I'm not sure how, but evidently, my SallieMae student loans are fully repayed. This is...odd, because I don't remember repaying them, and I don't remember having them rolled over to someone else.

Hmmm. _

What I did this week:

One cleaned my outer room
Two sinks of dishes
Three loads of laundry
Four various errands
Five job applications
Six interesting movies

And that's it. Not too shabby for my first week off.

What I dislike most about the games which require the disc to be in the drive is that if the disc is lost, you can't play the game. Now, the disc probably isn't lost, but I can't find it, and I suspect that its in a box somewhere, which is not exactly helpful. _

Not being a dynamic, go-getting self starter is evidence that one does not fit into a society that treasures those attributes. Since not fitting in means that there is something wrong with you, then you should seek psychiatric help. Often, its discovered there is an imbalance of the brain. I wonder, though, how many of those dynamic, go-getting self starters also have an imbalance, this time in the other direction?

It might explain something about what ails our business elites. _

Judge Sonia Sotomayor seems to be President Obama's nominee for the Supreme Court. On the whole, this is pretty exciting. It was a terrible, no good, very bad way to make decisions when the Republics were doing it to the Democrats, but that fact that Sotomayor will piss of the the right gives me a little thrill inside. Sotomayor seems relatively liberal, and has a background and life story which are compelling (I'm using that word a lot lately). I think it could be much worse, and I wise President Obama and Judge Sotomayor all the luck in the world through these next couple of months. _

Talking about Elizabeth R, one of the things which is so interesting is that, while watching, I want to go read and learn all about the characters portrayed. And I often do. Its wonderful, and not necessarily something that happens often while watching movies, or rather, the absolute richness of detail makes it all the more compelling. Heady stuff. _

Done cleaning, for now. My legs hurt already, and I know I'll be sore in the morning. Carried a lot of stuff down to be thrown out/recycled. Moved a bunch of boxes around. Vacuumed. Disposed of a number of dead rodents. I hope I got them all. Tomorrow I do laundry and work on my lines for the play. _

We are having problems with mice, which is gross enough, but, having ultimately devolved to poison to deal with them, I now have to tear apart my storeroom to find the little stinkers' bodies. I've been needing to clean it anyway, it anticipation of moving this summer*, and in the process of cleaning, I've been finding what they've been eating (evidently, one of the boxes had a bad of bird seed in it from years and years ago). Hopefully, between removing their rations and poisoning their asses, I won't have to deal with them anymore, but oy is it gross dealing with them.

*Not sure where I'm moving, but I am going to be getting a job sometime this summer, and will be moving, so. _

I just need to accept that the Universe does not want me to have a printer today. The first time I tried installing the printer, ohhh, months ago, I couldn't find the right driver. Today, I found the right driver, but then I discovered that this particular printer does not work unless all of the ink cartridges have ink. And then in my drawer, I found extra ink! But it was Magenta, not Light Magenta, so I was out of luck. Then, while cleaning, I found Light Magenta! But it was for the wrong printer series, so again, I was out of luck. I have five cartridges, Black, Cyan, Light Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow, but I am missing the one cartridge I actually need because the printer is DUM. I can't really complain that much, because I got the printer and the ink for free from some guy at church a long time ago, but dios mio, I can tell why he wanted to get rid of it. _

So I just watched Die Hard, which was...interesting. Its mainly notable for how it has aged, to wit: Carrying guns on airplanes? OK! Smoking in airports? OK! Not taking your husbands last name? Most insulting and emasculating thing EVAR! Come to think of it, we're still fighting over that last one. Relearning how to fire a gun and kill someone? Crowning moment of awesome! /sarcasm. We're still wrestling with this as well, actually.

On the whole, it was an enjoyable, if violence filled action movie, and was fun watching Alan Rickman be evil, which he does so well, and for how young Bruce Willis was. _

OK, I am slightly annoyed with Mythbusters. I don't think they are using rigorous science. Maybe they should get points for demonstrating empiricism on TV, but really, they could probably do a better job of it, or at least explaining their statistics. Bah. Pfeh. _

Quantum of Solace is an interesting movie. My mother described it as French, or Surrealist, or an Art film, and there were some scenes in it that were just gorgeous. The opera scene, in particular, stands out very strongly, but the film overall has a strong sense of color. Not quite as flamboyant, perhaps, as Hero, but visually striking in any case. Even beyond the technical merits of the film, it was enjoyable, as a Bond flick, and as a chance to watch Daniel Craig walk around in very tight pants. _

My car hit 30,000 miles this morning on the way to work. I have owned it since September, 2006, or about 32 months. I thought I just saw the average was 2000 miles a month, so I am well below the national average, which is nice. I am also only 28 months away from having it paid for entirely, which is also nice. Over halfway done! And so far, it has been a good car, and I have never had any troubles with driving it. Only troubles with people running into it. _

I've got one job for this summer, about 24-30 hours of writing Theater curriculum for the district. This is exciting for two reasons, one is that its a job and its money at $20 an hour, and the other is that its going to look good on my resume. Also, I think it will be fairly interesting, and an important part of my continuing education. So, exciting! That's in July, and I'm looking forward to it. _

I am simultaneously amused and annoyed by these middle class type people saying its impossible (or very difficult) to get around many cities if you have a child. And I suppose that's true, but they seem to overlook (or at least never mention) the many, many people who do make it without a car in those places, primarily because they are poor, and really have no choice. Its very easy to ignore the needs of poor- and working class people, but precisely because it is easy to ignore their needs, I think progressives and liberals have a special responsibility not to. _
