I managed to make it through the last three days only eating at parties or other people's houses, or eating leftovers from same. Not quite a life is good, moment, but still.

I think my speakers are dying. This is annoying because I had originally thought it was just my headphones, but I replaced them with a fairly nice new set, and the new set still doesn't work. Also, only one of the two speakers is actually emitting sound. Bah.

My scanner arrived today. Yay! I got it hooked up (and cleared off my desk in the process) and it works beautifully. Maybe a little too beautifully, because it picks up the dust on the photos, and even though I try to keep on top of that, there is still a lot of dust. I also found ink for my printer, and now it works beautifully too! I was afraid I'd have to go out and buy some, but it turned out I had a stash of just what I needed in my desk. Yay, times two! The most annoying thing about my printer is that it won't print anything, if even one color is missing, but now that's not a problem. I don't anticipate printing anything but documents, and I have lots of black ink. All told, a productive several hours.

I am not really planning to see Avatar. The premise does not interest me, and the previews have not grabbed me in any way. Plus, all the talk about James Cameron's Amazing Awesome Woo is turning me off. That said, I enjoyed this response to the movie, not least because it uses the phrase, "the transformation into Braveheart Smurf."

I went to make tacos today, but discovered I had no taco seasoning. "But," thought I, "How hard can it be to season ground beef?" So I looked up a recipe, and it turned out to be not hard at all. Lunch was quite tasty, and I could not tell the difference in the seasoning I had made from the Always Save $0.35 packets. I would calculate the price difference between making it myself and buying it, but that would be extremely complicated, and I am intuitively thinking it would be cheaper to make it myself, because it usually is.

So, some games feel the need to change the screen resolution in order to function properly. What. Ever. What really annoys me, however, is when it doesn't change back when I exit the game. My monitor is now stuck at 600x800 which, really, is not a good resolution for it. I feel so constricted!

Adorable as he is, several of my socks now have holes in them where he has chewed. I need to figure out how to stop him doing that, which is difficult considering that for dogs, everything is either food, toilet, or chew toy.

I'm reading a book about dogs called The Culture Clash which is really good, although I'm not too far into it. Even though I am already pretty tuned in to what the overall message of the book, there is still a lot of good stuff in it, and its written in an engaging fashion.

I saw Fantastic Mr Fox a couple days ago, and it was, well, it was fantastic. It was silly and sweet and well done. While there were many moments of sheer joy, a few stand out. One of the best were when the anthropomorphic animals reverted to more atavistic displays, which I thought was a nice touch. The music was generally good without being overbearing. The animation was fun, as was the characterization. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend you do when you get the chance.

There were a lot of cast parties for this last show, but the most enjoyable one was going to dinner with a group after strike. I'm not sure why, but its possibly because at that point, all the pressure is off, and you can just relax in the companionship of it all.
