16 (potential) jobs across 11 school districts in the state of Missouri. I haven't looked out of state yet. I've applied to four districts before, so hopefully I will have to do less duplication of efforts, updating rather than redoing. Only one potential speech/drama job, 6 openings in Math, 8 openings in English/Language/Journalism. 7 positions in the Kansas City metro area, 2 in St. Louis, 2 in the Joplin area, and 2 more in further flung areas of the state.

The problem with resumes is that they put everything out there, and crams it all together, and it seems to create the illusion of being an accomplished person. Look at everything I've done, they say.
The problem with memory is that everythign is spread out and diffuse. You haven't done anything worthwhile in a long time, your memory seems to say.
My pride says I should trust my resume, and be an accomplished person. My self-doubt says I should trust my memory and not forget my lack of everything.
Its a hard life, living between competing emotions.

I have been teaching for 3.5 years. I took 2.5 years to get my masters degree. Thinking back, these past couple years have been a flurry or activity and life changing events, even as at the time, they seemed to be running pretty much the same.

I have been ready for the weekend since Tuesday. Today, though, I'm doing OK. The weekend can take the time it needs. Of course, this weekend is going to be truncated. Saturday is even now pledged to numerous events, including a training session and a job fair! I'm looking forward to the job fair, though.

In the last 24 hours, I have been to three different Toastmasters events. I'm a little toastmastered out, actually. Fortunately, the last one had a couple of really gorgeous men there, which boosted my spirits considerably.

I started updating my resume today, and by chance, I noticed that I had a resume from 1/27/2009. The differences between the two are stark. My current resume is much fuller, more polished, and more professional looking than the one from even a year ago. I've added three certifications and one masters degree, plus addtional experience and other achievements. I don't know how much how resumes "look" actually affects the hiring process (to hear people tell it, its The Most Important Thing Ever. I have my doubts), but I am much happier with my current resume.
Now I just need to start sending it out, and once again begin cursing the heavens and the people who demand having the full credential packet before they even will look at your application. This is such an expensive process. Arg. Grar.

We are counting down degrees of polynomials. 3...2...1...0.... My co-teacher ends each series by shouting "Blastoff!", her way of making sure we don't miss a degree.
Earlier today, while counting down, a student counted "4...3...2...Blastoff!" I thought, but did not say, "Premature blastoof."

I've been working all last week, which has been a change, but a nice one. Today, however, getting up fairly early I was surprised at my room. I hadn't really been in it in morning light for over a week. It was nice.

The book I was having trouble with earlier this weekend, which was missing 30 pages, repeated the next 30 pages. I don't know what happened at the publisher on that one, but that might be why is was at a used bookstore.

I'm playing some music, whatever the randomizer threw out, and my sister comes in.
"Got some Incest going?" says she.
I nod, I don't know what the band is called. Its probably from one of her CDs anyway. "I could be" I reply, "I really don't know."
She looks at me like I'm crazy, and leaves the room. She's back a minute later.
"InCENSE! Are you burning incense?"

I am only getting half of the stereo on my speakers. On most songs, you can't tell the difference, but on some, especially those with dialog, half the dialog is missing. Very, very irksome. And one of the speakers is dead, which is, I think, related. Sadly, I tend to buy fairly inexpensive speakers, even though I think this pair cost about $30, so I'll just have to suck up and replace them (eventually) but they've lasted a fair while.

So I cleaned today (and a little yesterday, too). I went through a box of correspondences and other papers. I sorted, and stored. I swept and vacuumed the floor. I cleaned off my desk. I cleaned downstairs, too, and ran a load of dishes. (I still love having the dishwasher!). I cleaned off the stove. If I fold my laundry and hang up my clothes, I will have been pretty productive.

Of course, it can't just be in PDF form, no, I have to download a special reader to allow me to access the book. And then the book uses different page numbers than the book I was reading, so now I have to hunt through it to find where my missing pagers were. Still, thanks to the magic of technology, I should be able to read the missing pages on my laptop! Woo!

The Kansas City Public Library has just won all sorts of fabulous points! I can check out an eBook, download the PDF, and have access to it for 21 days! How cool is that?! I am just agog and all blown away that this is possible. I shouldn't be. This is exactly how the future should be working. The library is doing their job so well that I can't even conceive it. Like, wow, man. Like, wow.

Just called my Congress critter's office, told him to vote to pass Health Care Reform now. I don't know if this will go any good, but Rep. Cleaver has been pretty good on the issue so far. Not sure what else I can do about it now.

I am not a great bowler, but I seem to be a fairly consistent bowler. I went bowling last night with a friend, and out of three games, bowled 89, 80, and 85. If memory serves this is about what I bowled last spring, the last time I went bowling.
At least I did better than the President. I can comfort myself with that.
