In the past week, I have applied for a baeker's dozen of teaching positions in English, Math, and Speech/Theater around the state, although focusing mainly in the Kansas City and St. Louis metropolitan areas (and one in Chicago).
I've just now updated my list of openings, and I have 13 possible openings still to apply for, again although most of these are second order of preference, generally falling under "not my preferred subject" or "not my preferred location."
So far, I haven't heard back from anyone, but it is still fairly early in the process.

Just sent off an application for a Middle School math position on the outskirts of Kansas City (Grain Valley). I think if I try to do one a day, I should be in good shape.
I haven't heard back from anyone else yet, but I did send out a bunch in just the last week.
I have to go home and get ready for a special Toastmaster's meeting tonight. I'm the Toastmaster, and we're celebrating the 45th anniversary of one of our members.

I just applied for four jobs today! All in the same school district on the same online application, and I had to update the information, but once I did, I was able to speed through pretty quickly.
I have applied for a possible Speech/Theater position, a possible English position, a possible Math position, and a definite English/Journalism position.
I should probably try to apply to some more places, but I am tired now and ready to go home.

Today, I replaced the locks on my sisters house. It took about an hour, not counting the time to buy them. 45 minutes on the first set, 10 minutes on the next. The learning curve is steep but effective.
Anyway, we have new locks now, and the deadbolt on the front door no longer sticks! Yay! When I removed the old one, a tiny little ring of some sort actually fell out of the lock, meaning whatever was broken was broken good.
On the other hand, cheep screws annoy me terribly. Would it kill the manufacturer to include a screw which won't be strip by the installation process? Would that add that much money to the cost of the lock set?

On the positive side, I have previously applied to a number of these school districts, which means they have a lot of my information already. I don't have to re-enter it, so much as update it. On the negative side, its still a tedious proces, and if I haven't applied recently, they don't have my most recent credential file.

On the other hand, all this job-applying means that I am increasing the national unemployment rate! When I wasn't applying, I was a "discouraged worker", so I wasn't counted. Now that I'm back in the job market, I get added to the rolls. It hasn't appeared to hurt the total rate, which actually fell to 9.7 this past month, but if it starts to rise in February, you'll know who to blame.

Three more jobs applied for! All through a national charter school, so I was able to apply to teach 9th Grade English in Chicago, 7/8th Grade Math in St. Louis, and Middle School Math in Kansas City. I just wish their online application was a little more flexible.

I am trying to print a PDF, and it is taking forever. Maybe 5 or 10 minutes a page! I printed two PDFs on the same computer, same printer moments before, and they shot out no problem. Now, however, it is slower than molasses in the Yukon.
