And with my sister's help, I got my taxes amended. I'll mail them out tomorrow. The worst part is, I'm a college educated professional, I should be able to do my own taxes without help, but I got so much wrong on a fairly simple form. I just don't know.

Its done now, tho, so thats good. _

I heard back from a school in St. Louis, requesting a little more information. That was exciting, and I spent an hour writing up the response. Maybe I'll hear back again tomorrow. Didn't apply for anything else today, haven't even looked at my taxes again, although I should probably grab my sister and do that before it gets too late.

Did take my sister to Office Depot, and Home Depot, and Book Depot (AKA the Library), and she bought a printer and a lawn mower, gas powered, no more push mower for her. I'm glad I'm not a homeowner.

I bought a wireless mouse, and its OK, although I am not happy with its apparent range. Actually, it wouldn't be a problem having to use the USB port in front, except I have the other one for my wireless router, which means that if I need to use a jump drive, I have to go without wireless internet or my wireless mouse. All the ports on the back are full, which is also irritating. I don't know if I could string my hard drives on my multi-port USB toy or not. I should probably try.

And thats my day. Go me. _

Today I applied for six more jobs, 3 middle school math positions, and 3 high school English positions.

Today I also did two loads of laundry, and one load of dishes.

Finally, I redid my taxes.

Later, I will be going to a Toastmasters meeting.

I think I'm done for the day. _

Just what I deserve for making fun of a friend for messing up her taxes.

If only I hadn't actually mailed the original return last night, I would be doing much better. Now, I have to file an amended return...once I show it to my sister to double check. _

I spent some time this evening working out my goals. I came up with 4 good short terms goals, and a total blank on long term goals. I finally added one, just so the space wouldn't be so empty, but I'm not sure how serious I am about it. Also, I realized a couple of my goals were really ongoing projects. At least one has a definite end date, and another, while no defined date, at least has a verifiable end point. Actually, they all do. Which is good. _

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by the amount of Toastmasters material I've accumulated. I have been a member for almost 10 years now, and have served in a wide variety of functions. A lot of it was pure detritus, old agenda, fliers from events long past, outdated forms. Some of it is probably still good, but I don't need, like 16 copies of the 2005-2006 Contest Rule Book. There was a lot more stuff worth saving, old manuals, newer manuals, special presentations and copies of speeches and handouts. It adds up quick. I was actually trying to collect it all in one place to find one set of manuals in particular, which I have found. Now I need to organize the rest, and recycle whats left over. _

I can't decide if burning incense makes me a hippie, or old fashioned, or just odd. Do any of y'all burn incense? I find that it helps "reset" a room, especially after cleaning and vacuuming, when everything has been disturbed but is now reordered. Plus it smells nice. I suppose I could buy those chemical air fresheners and plug ins and what have you, but that's so...yuppie. _

While at work today, my dog got into a bag of pencils, and because pencils look and smell and taste so very much like rawhide or doggy chew toys, he chewed them all up. I walked into my office, and there was a pile of splinters, rubber, and graphite all over my rug. So I spent the evening cleaning, or sort of cleaning. Picking up a little and vacuuming, at least. _

I just put in some applications to teach or substitute teach this summer. It would be a nice bonus, if it came about.

I should actually apply for some real jobs, as well. Starting Friday, at least, I probably won't work, and then next week is spring break, so I'll have plenty of time to get applications in and work done. _

I remember that I hated planning conferences. The planning is fun, but then you get to the implementation, and you end up so busy making sure everything is going right that you miss out hanging out with people, and then spend the rest of the afternoon in a meeting, and then get yelled at when other people not yourself appropriated the camp's buckets to do tye-dye in, thus staining the stupid things.

At least at this conference, there should be no tye-dye. _

I did laundry, put away clothes, went through and culled bad clothes, had a rockin' Toastmasters meeting, where I gave a speech and talked with the area governor about the conference coming up, which I am now co-planning. I just made my bed, and I am heading there any second now. _

I bought new socks and underwear last weekend, or was it two weekends ago, and what with one thing and another, only now got around to putting them away. I realized I would be out of room in my sock drawer, so I decided to mark the occasion by culling anything with a hole, or unmatched, or just didn't fit. It made an embarrassingly large pile. I am afraid if I were to do that with my wardrobe, I wouldn't have any clothes left. It might be an interesting experiment, though, to see what I actually had worth wearing, and then to see if I could get through my life wearing only that. Eventually, I will have a real job, and I'll be able to afford to buy new pants without tiny holes near the cuff, or small paint stains. Eventually. _
